Biosecurity Import Supply Chain Roundtable Update

Further to the previous Biosecurity Advocacy Update, on Friday, 26 February 2021 the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) hosted two virtual biosecurity forums to identify issues and solutions in the delivery of biosecurity assessment and inspection services, reform priorities and biosecurity funding arrangements.

Departmental delegates met with 19 industry representatives across the import and logistics sector. The second forum involved a range of importers, with discussions across both generating positive outcomes.

IFCBAA was represented at the virtual biosecurity forum as we continue to advocate for short and long terms solutions to improve the end to end biosecurity system and service.

The department will host further smaller working groups to work on the short and long term reform initiatives and we will keep members informed of any developments.
