CPD Event Report (VNF 2015/012)

The second Victorian and Tasmanian CBFCA CPD Event held at Crown Promenade, Southbank, Melbourne on 15 August 2015 was a tremendous success providing the ideal mix of relevant information and social activities.

For the third year running since the implementation of the CPD Scheme by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, the CBFCA has been working hard to develop relevant CPD sessions for delivery in an online and face to face environment.

The CPD Event was accredited for 16.5 points to assist members that prefer the face to face sessions in meeting their CPD obligations as part of their licence conditions.

If you attended both CPD Event you achieved the required 30 points for the 2015/2106 CPD year. You will be able to access your CPD records on our website under My CPD section.

The CPD sessions focused on policy and process changes, system changes, regulatory compliance, legal obligations, risk mitigation and the need for ongoing professional development.
Members were reminded by the regulators they operate in a changing complex and regulated environment and the importance of regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, training and professional development.

A stronger relationship with regulators was outlined as key strategies for the CBFCA to support members in the ever changing complex international trade and logistics environment.

The feedback received has been positive, many members said the information provided was relevant, interesting and informative. Another positive aspect is that the event provided an opportunity for members to catch up with their industry colleagues, make new contacts as the fast changing business environment, which is dominated by electronic communication is limiting the opportunity for face to face interaction.

This is what some members said about the event:

“It was one of the best CBFCA events I have attended as all of the speakers were excellent and all very topical. I walked away with something from each presenter.

“It was one of the best events put up over at least the last 10 years, best in terms of relevant content, venue, catering and timing.

“A very productive and informative CPD event that provided 16.5 CPD points, well done CBFCA Team”

“Congratulations on delivering a great event, everything was first class”

But it was not all hard work, as well as the full day content there was plenty of opportunity for social interaction during the morning tea break, buffet lunch break and the post event drinks and networking cocktail function.

The CBFCA would like to thank members, presenters and sponsors for their ongoing support and contribution to the overall success of this event.

We hope to see you again at future CBFCA events.
